Steve Jobs died today. He was a huge hero of mine, a real visionary who transformed how we use technology. Roaming around some of the obituaries and commentaries, I found this paragraph, and it strikes me as the heart of something- especially the bit about dogma, and the thinking of others. I am, of course, writing this on my MacBook, and I’m still mourning the two iPhones that have been lost to me this year.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life,” Jobs said. “Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
